Hazel Gaze introduce Strung Out: Live & Unplugged at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, a 15-track live album that presents the New York City band from a different perspective. Recorded at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and recorded and mixed by Grammy-nominated engineer Daniel Alba, the project brings a string section of violin, viola and cello into the band’s rock ’n’ roll framework. Guitars, piano, vocal harmonies and the rhythm section remain at the center of the performances, while the new arrangements reshape their relationship with the strings, revealing quieter details, unexpected textures and a cinematic dimension not previously heard in Hazel Gaze’s recorded work. The result retains the band’s rock ’n’ roll energy while opening its catalog toward a more intimate and orchestral interpretation.
Released on September 18, 2026, Strung Out: Live & Unplugged at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music arrived alongside the premiere on YouTube of the complete filmed performance recorded during the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music session. The performance features Hanz on vocals; Russ Soper on guitars and backing vocals; Konrad Payne on bass; Mary Jo Verruto on piano and backing vocals; Spiros Arnakis on drums; and Molly Klein and Nicole Riolo on backing vocals and hand percussion, joined by Anna Nordmoe and Jennifer Axelson on violin, Mirandi Hostetter on viola, and Rachel Gawell-Burns on cello. Daniel Alba recorded and mixed the album, with mastering by Oscar Zambrano. Based in New York City, Hazel Gaze brings together musicians with backgrounds spanning recording and touring, Broadway pits, conservatory training, bars and clubs, combining influences from The Black Crowes, Lenny Kravitz, Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin with blues, soul and vocal harmonies.
