The Belgian singer-songwriter turns the transition into adulthood into a journey through anxiety, eco-anxiety, disillusionment, and the conscious choice to hold onto hope.
Idyl releases Naïve, her debut EP, out September 11, 2026 via Capitane Records. Across five tracks, the Brussels-based singer-songwriter examines one of the more disorienting parts of growing up: learning to separate truth from the stories we have been told about adulthood while the world around us is shaped by ecological, economic, and social crises. Loneliness, anxiety, and an uncertain future sit alongside a deliberate decision to keep believing in tomorrow. At the heart of the EP is “Cette Flamme”, its focus track and a meditation on keeping hope alive in the middle of darkness. Its central flame becomes a metaphor for the force guiding Idyl through transformation, suggesting that choosing hope is not an act of naivety but a conscious response to uncertainty. The EP’s arc moves from losing one’s bearings on “Illusion” to the anxiety and contemporary paralysis of “L’ennui”, before arriving at “Cette Flamme” and the possibility of continuing forward without having every answer.
Sonically, Naïve sits between electronic pop, French chanson, and touches of vintage pop, pairing luminous melodies with lyrics shaped by the uncertainties of contemporary adulthood. Production led by Simon Le Saint, with mixing by Nicolas Michaux and Rémy Lebbos, creates intimate soundscapes that carry both lightness and emotional weight. Born in Brussels, Idyl began developing her musical universe in 2023 and received early training in solfège, piano, and singing. Drawing inspiration from artists including Clara Luciani, Lio, and France Gall, she has also performed as an opening act for Gaël Faye and Loubiana while continuing to define her own artistic language. On Naïve, the image of armour protecting a chrysalis becomes another expression of the project’s central transformation: growing up means moving through uncertainty and change while protecting the part of ourselves that continues to imagine another future.
