The British-Brazilian singer-songwriter explores growing up, relationships and urban life across a six-track collection.

Liana Flores shares And so it goes…, her new EP released through Verve Records, a six-track collection shaped by the transition from rural life to the city. Inspired by her experiences moving from Norfolk to St Andrews and eventually London, the project brings together fingerpicked guitar, ethereal bossa nova vocals and upbeat funk within a broader pop and folk palette. Flores allows playful moments to sit alongside more introspective writing: “Gemini” explores darker textures and her lowest vocal register, while “So mysterious” shifts from bossa nova into funk, born from her desire to create something joyful for her live repertoire. On “The way I say goodbye,” she turns inward, reflecting on loss, disappointment and the process of letting go of dreams she once held. Across the EP, relationships, touring and the passage of time become part of a personal transition expressed through a sound that balances warmth with quiet melancholy.

Recorded in Los Angeles with Paul Butler, And so it goes… expands on the musical language Flores developed after first discovering bossa nova through artists including Tom Jobim, Bebel Gilberto and Leila Pinheiro, eventually learning the guitar style by ear and incorporating it into her own introspective songwriting. Her artistic world has also grown through collaborations with Roberto Menescal on “Midnight Lullaby” and Mei Semones on “Koneko,” as well as live appearances alongside artists such as Men I Trust, Ichiko Aoba and Belle & Sebastian. Flores now takes the new material on a headline tour across Europe and North America, including a November 3 performance at Lunario in Mexico City.
