Eilis Frawley Shares “Calm Down”, a Reflection on Truth and Attention

The Berlin-based Australian drummer and songwriter combines direct spoken word with kraut-like rhythms to question how information shapes what we believe.

Eilis Frawley shares “Calm Down,” the second single from her forthcoming album, out September 4, 2026 via Sinnbus Records. The track moves away from the openly confrontational intensity of “Guilt,” replacing it with an elegant, unsettling and slightly unusual percussive architecture. Over kraut-like rhythms, Frawley delivers direct spoken word while examining the constant stream of news, opinions, notifications and algorithms competing for our attention. At the center of the song is a question about the nature of truth: if the information reaching us is increasingly designed around our individual interests, can what we understand as truth be tailored as well? “Calm Down” turns that uncertainty into sonic tension, allowing beauty and discomfort to coexist while Frawley asks who decides what we see and how much of what we believe is actually chosen by us.

Stillness becomes something closer to a political gesture. In an environment demanding constant attention, Frawley presents radical inaction as a way of regaining perspective—perhaps slowing down can itself become a form of resistance. Her approach combines precise percussion, hypnotic rhythms and writing that confronts social structures, feminism, mental health and personal insecurity without softening its message. Classically trained as a percussionist at Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music, Frawley later developed a multidisciplinary practice in Berlin and founded Bang On in 2016, a platform supporting emerging artists and the LGBTQI+ community. “Calm Down” extends the concerns of her debut album Fall Forward (2025), looking further into how we process information, construct identity and navigate systems designed to keep us constantly engaged.
