The Irish trio rework “Lost My Guiding Light” and add two Paul Dakeyne remixes of “Low Places”, offering a glimpse into their forthcoming album A Black Frame.

Tiny Magnetic Pets reshape part of their catalogue through Astralux, a three-track EP that revisits two of their established songs from a more electronic, dancefloor-oriented perspective. Available digitally from August 21, the release is led by “Lost My Guiding Light (Again)”, a new version of the track originally reworked by the band for an electronic music festival in Dublin before becoming the opening song of their live shows. The recording expands the group’s synth-pop foundations with cinematic textures, soaring melodies and a stronger electronic pulse. Its central idea is equally concerned with finding direction amid uncertainty. As Paula Gilmer explains, the song reflects the experience of losing one’s way across different areas of life, while asking listeners to consider what their own “guiding light” might be in 2026.

The EP also includes “Low Places (Dakeyne Remix)” and “Low Places (Dakeyne Acid Dub)”, two reinterpretations of the track originally featured on the band’s 2025 Harmonious Grey EP, remixed by producer and DJ Paul Dakeyne. His versions place the composition in a more rhythm-driven electronic setting, complementing Tiny Magnetic Pets’ melodic songwriting and expanding its club potential. Featuring Paula Gilmer, Sean Quinn, Eugene Somers and Seamus Quinn, the band has developed its sound between Dublin and Belfast since emerging in 2015, while building a live profile through performances with OMD, Midge Ure, VNV Nation and Dave Keuning. Astralux points toward the next phase of that evolution, with the band’s fourth studio album, A Black Frame, set for later in 2026 and produced by Gareth Jones.
