D’Arcy – “XTC” | Nightlife Euphoria as a Way to Lose Yourself and Feel Alive

When night falls, the dance floor can become a place where desire and music reshape our sense of time. In “XTC,” D’Arcy captures that intensity through an encounter where physical attraction, rhythm, and euphoria seem to merge into a single experience.

The line “Love me like you’ll never leave me” introduces a need for closeness that contrasts with the fleeting nature of the night. Between flashing lights, moving bodies, and a room filled with haze, “Feels like we’re just fever dreaming” describes a state in which the intensity of the moment seems to pull everything away from reality.

Dark pop built for the dance floor

D’Arcy blends alternative dance, stutter house, and hyperpop with references to peak-time and driving techno. Electronic drops, rhythmic shifts, and repeated vocal lines create an explosive sound that retains dark pop’s melodic sensibility. The first major drop, around the 1:20 mark, signals a turning point that pushes the track’s energy further.

When desire finds its own rhythm

Beyond collective euphoria, “XTC” also expresses the desire to make a fleeting encounter feel permanent, even if only for a few hours. For Caroline D’Arcy, the song reflects the project’s evolution toward club-oriented electronic music, where freedom, physical connection, and the temporary loss of inhibition occupy the same space.
