Lydia Luce – “Wide Awake at Christmas Time” | The Magic of a Christmas Worth Making Last

Christmas also happens in those moments when everyone else seems to be asleep. The glow of the tree, the quiet of the house, and the anticipation of a special morning create a small world where time appears to move a little slower.

Inspired by the first Christmas Lydia Luce shared with her son, the song turns that experience into a celebration of family traditions and the memories we begin to build together. Between pajamas, carols, and dancing by the fire, “Wide Awake at Christmas Time” finds its warmth in simple rituals and the desire to hold on to them: “Make believe it’s never ending”.

Acoustic folk for an intimate celebration

Rooted in acoustic folk and Americana, the song embraces a traditional sensibility that favors intimacy over grandeur. Its warm approach supports a family-centered narrative, connecting with the spirit of Christmas folk music through a deeply personal experience.

Before the house wakes up again

The arrival of morning signals that this shared moment will soon come to an end. Yet the song finds part of its magic in that fleeting quality: every tradition matters because it can never be repeated in quite the same way. “Wide Awake at Christmas Time” captures the wonder of discovering Christmas from a new perspective and turning an ordinary moment into a lasting memory.
