Jak Bannon – “Hold Still, Please” | The Impossible Wish to Stop Time

Time keeps moving even when we are still trying to make sense of what we have left behind. In “Hold Still, Please,” Jak Bannon turns this contradiction into a reflection on love, grief, and the changes that reshape how we see the past. The single marks his return to music after six years without a release and opens Time, Full Speed, a ten-track debut album exploring how emotions evolve as life continues to move forward.

The song navigates the need for stability and the frustration of being unable to control what happens. Memories and imagined alternatives keep alive the question of what might have unfolded differently, while the search for answers reveals how difficult it can be to accept a reality that has already changed.

A Collaborative Production

Written and composed by Bannon and co-produced with quickly, quickly, “Hold Still, Please” also features additional production by Elliot Cleverdon, drums by Myles Martin, and strings performed by Cleverdon. Mixing by Marlon B and mastering by Chab Mastering, both completed in Paris, round out the production credits. While these details do not establish a specific genre or sonic identity on their own, they place the track within a collaborative project that combines personal expression with contributions from different instrumentalists and creative partners.

Moving Forward Without Every Answer

The title captures a tension running throughout the album: wanting to stop something that, by nature, keeps moving. Bannon does not frame the past as an experience that can be recovered unchanged, but as something whose meaning shifts with time. “Hold Still, Please” leaves room for listeners to recognize their own losses and discover that moving forward does not necessarily mean leaving everything behind.
