Yuko Araki – “Decoded Void” | Experimental noise between chaos and structure

Finding musicality in noise without taming its intensity is the challenge Yuko Araki sets herself on “Decoded Void.” The lead single from V, the sixth installment in her numbered album series, emerged from ideas developed while preparing to perform alongside SUMAC in Tokyo in 2025. The result inhabits a space where abrasive post-industrial electronic textures meet rhythmic organization, turning sonic ferocity into a structured listening experience.

Rather than offering a verbal narrative, the piece invites listeners to experience sound from different perspectives. Its title suggests the possibility of decoding something that initially appears empty or illegible, echoing Araki’s interest in finding patterns within extreme sonic materials. The tension between disorientation and recognition allows the noise to remain confrontational while revealing internal relationships. Instead of prescribing a single interpretation, Araki leaves room for each listener to establish their own connection with the music.

Abrasive electronics with rhythmic momentum

Moving between harsh noise wall, experimental electronics, and industrial techno, Araki combines digital composition with Eurorack systems to deform and reconstruct her sounds. The process generates dense, penetrating textures without abandoning an attention to structure and movement.

Decoding the seemingly indecipherable

Jackson Kaki’s dark 3D animation expands the world of “Decoded Void” through references to Japanese art and literature. Sound and image converge in an exploration where chaos does not exclude composition but becomes the raw material for new forms of perception.
