The New York punk band shares a B-side from its fifth album, a record that transforms grief into a musical exploration of loss, resilience and recovery.

I Am the Avalanche have released “Which Way to the Rapture?”, a new track drawn from the recording sessions for The Horror Show, their fifth studio album and debut release for Equal Vision Records. Released on October 27, 2026, the song serves as a B-side to the album, extending the melodic punk intensity and creative freedom that define this chapter of the New York band’s career. More than two decades into their journey, the group uses the track to further explore the sound of a record that confronts loss without sacrificing the energy and conviction of its songwriting. The release is accompanied by a video on YouTube, while the full album is available on digital streaming platforms.

Produced by Brett Romnes, known for his work with Hot Mulligan and Oso Oso, The Horror Show is I Am the Avalanche’s first full-length album in six years. Much of its eleven-track narrative emerged from the grief experienced by frontman Vinnie Caruana following the sudden death of his best friend. The record explores friendship, mortality, love and resilience, moving between moments of fragility and defiant intensity. Tracks such as “5:55,” “I’m Not Dead…” and “True Legends Never Die” reflect different ways of confronting absence and finding reasons to keep going. Caruana hopes the songs can become companions for listeners experiencing loss, reminding them that they are not alone. The band has also announced US dates throughout November and December 2026, with Capital, Matt Embree, Classic Traffic, The Moms, Born Without Bones and Set Your Goals appearing on select shows.
