The dark wave duo of JG Outsider and Gerd Van Geel explores the tension between adult responsibilities and the desire to preserve childhood freedom.
Bella Eterna introduces “When I Grow Up,” the first single from 2Faces, its second studio album. Released on October 23, 2026, the track builds on the duo’s dark electronic identity with a magnetic, danceable dark wave sound. The project brings together Spanish musician JG Outsider, also known as Javi Golo, and Belgian vocalist Gerd Van Geel, known for his work with The Arch. Here, Van Geel’s deep voice carries a reflection on the obligations of adult life and the need to preserve a sense of freedom. Images of concrete cities, lengthening shadows and silence frame the contrast between the melancholy of growing older and the desire to recover childhood’s capacity for wonder. Driven by JG Outsider’s hypnotic rhythm, the song balances its dancefloor appeal with a more introspective perspective.
The single sets the stage for 2Faces, which will feature nine tracks on vinyl: seven original compositions and two exclusive remixes by Parissior and Cycle. The release follows Bella Eterna’s recent cover of “Come Before Christ and Murder Love,” originally recorded by Death in June. Label Mots Music will release the album on vinyl, with pre-orders opening on October 30, 2026. The visual presentation is also central to the project’s dual concept: the vinyl’s front and back covers will feature photographs by Domingo J. Casas, whose work has documented Spain’s rock and electronic music scenes for decades. Javi Golo composed the music for “When I Grow Up,” with lyrics by Gerd Van Geel. Recording and mixing took place at JG Outsider Studio in Spain, while mastering was handled by Monoposto Mastering GmbH and JG Outsider Studio. The single’s official music video is scheduled to premiere on November 6.
