“Blurry Vision”, the second single from HABESHA, captures the moment when a relationship begins revealing its risks, yet the intensity of the connection makes stopping feel almost impossible. MONOLYTH builds the song around a simple plea — “Please don’t leave / Stay with me” — that gradually exposes something deeper: fear, emotional dependence, and the uncertainty of not knowing whether the other person is still truly present.
The “blurry vision” becomes a precise image for a state where desire and fear overlap, making it difficult to understand what is actually happening. “Are you still there for me?” introduces another layer of insecurity: it is not only about wanting someone to stay, but wondering whether an emotional connection still exists. Fear becomes physical in “I feel the fear coming up my body”, while loneliness represents what the speaker is desperately trying to avoid. Within HABESHA, the track captures the moment of giving yourself to a relationship despite recognizing its warning signs.
Between Indietronica and Alternative Rock
MONOLYTH moves between indietronica and indie rock, drawing from electronic music, trip-hop, cinematic alternative rock, and contemporary pop. References to Massive Attack and Portishead complement a project where music and image operate as parts of the same narrative.
Opening Up Means Taking a Risk
“Blurry Vision” does not resolve its uncertainty. It stays inside the moment when falling for someone means accepting the possibility of getting hurt, while still wanting to believe they will stay despite the doubts already taking shape.
