The Tuscan quintet explores identity, vulnerability and the myth of success through a more direct and emotionally exposed sound
Hollywood Stray, the fourth studio album by Italian quintet Flame Parade, was released on September 18, 2026 via Materiali Sonori. Recorded live at Playpen Studio in Bristol and produced by Ali Chant, the album marks a shift in the band’s musical language, bringing the ethereal atmospheres associated with their earlier work closer to songs that feel more exposed, immediate and emotionally direct. At its core, the record examines the tension between desire and disillusionment, fragility and resilience, using “Hollywood” as a symbol of a collective fantasy in which visibility and success become measures of personal worth. Against that idea, the “stray” becomes a figure that remains outside the expected path, resisting conformity and refusing to be defined by its standards.
Across its eight tracks, the album approaches that central tension through different emotional perspectives. “Criminal Gospel” considers the possibility of returning to an unfiltered sense of self, while “The Place Where Love Will Let You Down” and “888” move through fragile forms of intimacy. “White and Torn” addresses the pressures placed on women, illness and the loss of control; the title track turns its attention directly toward the mythology of success and appearances; and “A Little More Trouble” revisits adolescence, loneliness and the transition into middle age. Marco Zampoli, Letizia Bonchi, Francesco Agozzino, Mattia Calosci and Damien Carlucci shape these ideas through layered instrumentation, vocal harmonies, guitars, synths and expansive textures, while maintaining a more immediate perspective than on previous releases. The album extends a discography that began with A New Home in 2016 and continued through Cosmic Gathering and Cannibal Dreams.
