The multi-instrumentalist releases a song written at age 16, a preview of her upcoming album “Into The Waves”, featuring collaborations with Alex Lifeson and Dan Avidan.

Maiah Wynne has released “See The Water”, a new single that gives form to the voice of her inner critic. Written in just a few minutes at age 16 after receiving a dulcimer as a gift, the song captures the feeling of being haunted by that internal dialogue that insists one is never enough. Water and drowning become the central imagery of a composition that, years later, retains its original essence and now comes to life in a studio version true to the vision the artist always had for it.

“I decided to create a character out of her to represent the feeling of being hunted and haunted by that voice everywhere I went,” Wynne explains. The track opens with the threat “See the water? I’ll drown you in your mistakes”, building an atmosphere of tension where water operates as a metaphor for the weight of one’s own doubts and the impossibility of escaping that relentless judging presence.

“See The Water” is the third preview of her upcoming album, Into The Waves, set for release on September 25 via Kscope. The album, largely recorded during her first international tour and in hotel rooms, features contributions from Alex Lifeson (Rush), Dan Avidan, and other collaborators, and is now available for pre-order on CD and double vinyl.
