Hercules & Love Affair open a new chapter with Danseur Pt. 1, the first installment of a two-part EP exploring the relationship between electronic music and queer history. Released through Stratasonic Records, the record features “My Journey,” “I Get High,” “The Eyes of Love,” and a reimagining of Book of Love’s “Boy,” creating a dancefloor-inspired narrative rooted in the legendary underground clubs that helped define queer nightlife. Joined by Elín Ey of Hips & Lips and Quinn Whalley of Paranoid London, Andy Butler continues to merge house, acid, and darker electronic textures with deeply personal storytelling.

Rather than looking back through nostalgia alone, Danseur Pt. 1 brings pivotal moments of queer history into the present. Dedicated to former Taboo resident DJ Jeffrey Hinton, whose archive provides artwork for the physical edition, the release also includes a conversation between Butler and Pet Shop Boys about the relationship between synthesizer music and queer culture. Addressing themes ranging from coming out and love during the HIV crisis to the importance of community spaces, the EP sets the stage for Danseur Pt. 2, which will feature Faris Badwan of The Horrors and Albrecht Van Doornik, further expanding Butler’s ongoing exploration of identity, emotion, and club culture through electronic music.

También hablamos de su proceso donde el movimiento del cuerpo es el termómetro creativo, y de su expectativa por su primer show en la Ciudad de México.
