The Spanish band completes the poet’s unfinished verses through an emotional and cinematic rock song
The Son of Wood unveils “En la solapa”, the third preview of its upcoming record and one of the band’s most ambitious releases to date. Inspired by the unfinished lines found in Antonio Machado’s coat after his death, the song transforms those final words into a reflection on childhood, nostalgia and maternal affection. Through an elegant and emotionally charged arrangement, the band creates a bridge between literary heritage and contemporary songwriting.
Driven by clean instrumentation, expressive bass lines, violin and powerful electric guitar passages, “En la solapa” balances epic rock textures with intimate storytelling. Produced by Martín García Duque, recorded at Estudios Brazil and mixed and mastered in London by Ed Al-Shakarchy, the track further solidifies The Son of Wood’s distinctive fusion of rap and folk. Nearly a decade into their career, the band continues to prove that tradition can become a meaningful way to reinterpret the present.
