The Swedish artist transforms Amanaz’s 1975 cult song into an intimate and haunting reinterpretation

Julia Logan returns with “Khala My Friend,” a haunting reinterpretation of the 1975 Amanaz cult classic. Stripping away the raw energy of the original Zamrock version, Logan reshapes the song into a spacious and cinematic indie-folk piece built around restraint, delicate textures, and emotional intimacy.

Rather than revisiting the original’s psychedelic intensity, Julia Logan allows the melody to breathe through subtle instrumentation and atmospheric arrangements. Recorded alongside producer Daniel Bengtson and a collaborative group of musicians, “Khala My Friend” bridges generations and sonic worlds while reinforcing Logan’s gift for turning vulnerability and nostalgia into immersive emotional storytelling.
