HAIR CONTROL – “New Age Breaks” | Inner change belongs on the dance floor

Trusting the process of change may sound like a mental exercise, but HAIR CONTROL brings that idea straight into the body. On “New Age Breaks,” the Canadian duo turns self-help affirmations into material for an experimental breakbeat, synth-pop, and avant-dance track. Calls to release sadness, anger, and fear meet restless electronic rhythms, transforming introspection into movement. Personal growth here does not require stopping to decode every emotion; it can also begin by surrendering to the beat.

The repeated line “I trust the process of change” becomes a statement of intent, though the song never treats transformation as an instant solution. Change means recognizing what weighs us down and accepting that letting go takes time. By embedding this message in dance music, HAIR CONTROL connects awareness with pleasure: the body is not a distraction from inner exploration but another way to experience it. The combination also adds a playful dimension, suggesting that self-discovery need not be separated from curiosity or euphoria.

Electronic improvisation and unexpected textures

The track began with a Roland 909 rhythm recorded to cassette, followed by Rebecca Reid’s improvised synth layers, which Ryan Bourne reshaped into a dynamic collage. Processed clarinet, flute, hammered dulcimer, and vocals from Chad VanGaalen expand an arrangement that brings experimentation into conversation with rhythmic energy.

A practice of release through movement

A preview of Electric Pleasure, released today, October 30, 2026, “New Age Breaks” captures the duo’s identity: music for an emotional workout, where trusting change also means finding pleasure in the present.
