HAIR CONTROL – Seeing In The Dark | Discovering light while still walking through the night

Not every moment of clarity arrives with daylight. On Seeing In The Dark, HAIR CONTROL suggests something more hopeful: we do not overcome uncertainty by waiting for darkness to disappear, but by learning how to move through it together. As the latest preview of Electric Pleasure, the Calgary duo blends shimmering synth-pop, art-pop experimentation and lo-fi warmth into an uplifting anthem that celebrates resilience through shared experience.

The song unfolds as a symbolic nighttime journey. Rain-soaked roads, a watchful moon and distant light become companions on a path where fear and isolation slowly give way to connection and renewal. At its centre, the phrase “Seeing In The Dark” transforms uncertainty into possibility, suggesting that our clearest moments often emerge when we are forced to navigate without certainty. Images of nuclear winter and the small fire burning within the heart reinforce the idea that hope begins quietly before growing into something powerful enough to be shared with others.

Lo-fi synth-pop with adventurous textures

Blending art pop, avant-dance pop, synth-pop and power pop, the track combines filtered synthesizers, Roland 909 drum machines, guitars and cassette-recorded textures into a sound that feels both expansive and deeply personal. Its unconventional melodic structure gives the song an identity that is simultaneously accessible and adventurous.

Moving forward together

The song conveys resilience, optimism and emotional openness. Its greatest strength lies in reminding us that hope is not the absence of darkness—it is the decision to keep moving until we learn to see through it.
