Gluecose – “Keep Them In” | When Silence Feeds the Unease

Keeping a thought inside doesn’t mean leaving it behind. Sometimes silence only gives it time to grow until it takes over the very space we were trying to protect. On “Keep Them In,” Gluecose turns this tension into the image of a bottle sealed for years: a container for the worries we avoid naming but cannot stop accumulating. The thought of finally opening it brings another fear into focus: having to face everything we’ve kept inside.

The song moves through intrusive thoughts, disturbing dreams, and the frustration of being unable to live in the present without the mind interrupting the moment. The repeated line “I just wanted to live that feeling” expresses the exhaustion of wanting to experience something fully, only to find that unease keeps getting in the way. Beneath that struggle remains a possibility: someone else might know the same feeling, even if they have never dared to share it.

Between Post-Punk, Dream Pop, and Introspection

Gluecose places “Keep Them In” at the intersection of post-punk, dream pop, and trip-hop, with connections to shoegaze and alternative rock. Marco focuses primarily on production, bass, and synthesizers, while Sandi provides the vocals. This alternative identity complements a song concerned with what happens beneath the surface, where silence doesn’t necessarily mean peace.

What We Keep Inside Still Seeks a Way Out

The bottle becomes an image of isolation, but also of the possibility of opening up to someone else. “Keep Them In” finds its emotional connection in that contradiction: expressing what troubles us can be frightening, yet keeping it hidden has its own cost. Recognizing our experience in someone else may be the first step toward no longer facing it alone.
