A bicycle cutting through Berlin at night can become a way of releasing everything that has accumulated during the day. “kinetic theory, Pt. II” grows from that image: Martin Rott turns speed, tension and frustration into a piece where energy stops being static and starts moving.

Unlike the first installment, connected to the desire to regain movement during lockdown, this continuation adopts a rougher texture. The anger does not disappear; it changes state. The bicycle becomes the physical setting for that transformation, while the reference to Symphony Hall expands the concept toward different ways of expressing the same force.

Electronics turning tension into momentum

Moving between alternative dance, stutter house, IDM, glitch and electronic music, the production is driven by physical-sounding analog electronics. An unprocessed string quartet introduces an organic, cinematic dimension that expands the sonic space without softening its rough edges.

Movement as an emotional language

“Kinetic theory” works here as a straightforward metaphor: intense emotion can become energy once it finds a channel. Berlin, nighttime and speed create that space of release, while the strings represent another way of expressing the same force. Rott brings physical movement and emotion into the same current, where tension is not resolved but keeps moving forward.
