London Plane – “Nation Nation” | When surrendering your identity becomes a form of obedience

A skeleton mask, black boots and a trench coat can be enough to erase a person behind the character they choose to become. “Nation Nation” starts with that image and takes it into a world where belonging eventually replaces any trace of doubt. London Plane turns obedience into something frantic, danceable and deliberately unsettling.

The character abandons his own instincts to become an instrument of authority. The insistence on belonging, having no limits and giving himself completely builds a logic of fanaticism pushed to an extreme. The band even metaphorically steps into the character’s “jackboots” during the performance, refusing to observe him from an entirely safe distance. Exaggeration allows the song to work as provocation while also examining what happens when individual identity dissolves into collective conviction.

Goth made for dancing at the edge of discomfort

Gothic, dark wave and alternative rock meet art-rock and a distinctly dance-oriented approach. Produced by Carlos Dengler, the song drives bright, fast guitars and intense vocals over a rhythm section designed to keep moving.

A mask that eventually becomes the face

The skeleton mask represents individuality disappearing behind the uniform. As the character claims to have lost his instincts, the music reproduces an increasingly difficult-to-stop momentum. “Nation Nation” finds its central tension in that contradiction: a song built for physical movement while its narrative observes an identity that no longer seems to belong to itself.
