Allegories – “Pure Comedy” | When becoming who you imagined starts to feel absurd

“Everything I ever wanted to be” hangs somewhere between longing and irony. In “Pure Comedy,” Allegories places that aspiration at the center of a song that never fully decides whether it is mourning a lost possibility or questioning the need to pursue it in the first place. Years of writing, recording, rebuilding, and experimentation remain embedded in a track whose instability becomes part of its meaning.

The lyrics move through everything the narrator tries to forget: where they came from, what they regret, what they believe, what they fear, and even what they hate. That gradual erasure can suggest freedom, but it can also point toward the disappearance of the references that hold identity together. “Until there’s only wind in arms” pushes the idea into an even more open space. Frustration, anger, vulnerability, and stubborn hope collide around a difficult question: what does transformation mean when the effort itself starts to feel absurd?

A song that refuses to settle

Dream Pop, Indie Rock, electronic music, and Pop intersect with shoegaze elements inside a deliberately shifting structure. Live guitars, drums, and bass coexist with electronic layers, while fragments from different stages of the song’s development remain in the final recording. Ethereal passages can turn dense and physical, with the vocal performance following that pressure as its intensity rises.

Absurdity as a mirror

“Pure Comedy” frames a deeply emotional struggle with a layer of irony. Trying to become someone else may feel absurd, yet giving up does not necessarily provide an answer. Allegories leaves that tension unresolved and reproduces it through the music: sounds emerge, disappear, and return; vocals move through different levels of intensity; and the structure resists settling into a fixed identity. Instead of resolving uncertainty, the track makes uncertainty its own language.
