The Schisms – “I Learn To Love” | Learning to love in the middle of darkness

“I Learn to Love” turns learning how to love into something far less peaceful than its title might suggest. The Schisms create a chaotic rush where darkness, desire, and the search for emotional elevation collide, making the track feel like an attempt to find light precisely when something is trying to extinguish it.

The title frames love as a process that remains unfinished. Images of smoke, heat, drugs, fire, blows, and screams turn that search into something physical and potentially destructive. After all that intensity, the repeated “I want your love” emerges as a much simpler need: beneath the aggression and excess is a persistent desire for connection. The song never resolves the tension between inner transformation and external desire; it keeps both forces burning until they become momentum.

Psychedelia hitting like a mantra

Psychedelic Rock intersects with punk, garage rock, and goth rock over a rhythmic foundation inspired by Bo Diddley and early James Brown. The upfront vocal delivery and instrumental intensity push the song forward through repetition, accumulation, and attitude. Produced by Stuart Sikes, the track also preserves the spontaneity of a composition that was partly developed during the studio sessions.

The light that survives the excess

Darkness and light provide the song’s central symbolic opposition. Love emerges while something is attempting to extinguish it, and the abrasive imagery turns that struggle into energy. The repeated “I want your love” shifts the emotional center: after all the chaos, what remains is a basic, direct need. That contrast is crucial to the track’s identity as a mantra of resistance, where learning to love also means finding momentum inside whatever threatens to hold you back.
