“Soulwater” never seems to move toward a destination; it remains in motion. VPC Ensemble shapes the piece as a flowing soundscape where elements accumulate, disappear and return transformed, gradually blurring the boundaries between composition and improvisation. Analog synthesizer loops provide its center while flute and electric viola drift above percussion that feels more physical than defined. Vocals emerge like flashes, and the guitar seems to arrive from somewhere beneath the surface.

Within Life Is a Strange Loop, this structure becomes a sonic interpretation of existence as a system of recurring cycles. Returning does not mean repeating exactly the same thing; every turn introduces some form of change. Patterns return, instruments enter and disappear, and the piece remains suspended while continuously transforming. The questions around consciousness and existence do not need to be explained verbally. “Soulwater” turns them into an experience where gradually losing yourself inside the sound becomes part of the meaning.

A Current Between Genres

Psychedelic rock, ambient and free jazz coexist without any one of them taking complete control. Free improvisation brings spontaneity to the analog loops, while flute, electric viola and wordless vocal textures add an organic dimension. The drums operate more as physical presence than a clearly defined pulse, while the guitar introduces a distant, almost underwater perspective. The result approaches the “psychedelic ambient space jazz” described by the project: meditative, yet more physically energetic than traditional ambient.

Water as a Form of Consciousness

Water organizes both the imagery and the behavior of “Soulwater”. The music circulates, changes shape and avoids establishing a clear endpoint. Its lack of traditional resolution becomes particularly meaningful: instead of closing the cycle, the piece dissolves into it. In doing so, the idea of patterns repeating and transforming stops being an abstract concept and becomes an experience of continuous sonic movement.
