ViVii brings introspection to the dancefloor on new single “Temporary”

The Swedish dream-pop trio shares a bittersweet ode to impermanence, where danceable rhythms and existentialist lyrics coexist in the same space.

Swedish trio ViVii have released “Temporary”, a new single that works as a bittersweet ode to impermanence. Written and recorded in Stockholm, the track is built around a distinctly dansband-inspired groove —the characteristic Swedish dance sound— that pairs buoyant guitar lines, blissful psychedelic harmonies, and glittering melodies. This upbeat and catchy musical foundation deliberately contrasts with introspective, almost existentialist lyricism, creating a tension that, according to the band, captures “that moment when you realize that something is already changing, despite still standing in the middle of it.”

The song is anchored in the conflict between the desire to live fully and the certainty that everything is fleeting. “The idea behind the song is not that nothing matters because everything is temporary – it’s almost the opposite. The fact that things don’t last is exactly what gives them meaning,” they explain. “It’s about dancing while you still can, knowing that the song will eventually end.” The line “the end ain’t near, it is already right here” serves as the axis of that reflection, an invitation to stop waiting for a future change and recognize that life is already in constant motion.

Made up of married couple Emil and Caroline Jonsson alongside multi-instrumentalist Anders Eckeborn, ViVii have built a strong reputation on the European circuit with performances at festivals including Way Out West, Reeperbahn, and SXSW, as well as supporting Alt-J. The single follows “Not Your Island” and joins a catalog that includes their self-titled debut album —over 25 million streams— and their second LP, “Mondays”. The band, who currently have over 200,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, will perform in Stockholm and Gothenburg on August 25 and 26 as openers for Jonathan Johansson.
