Second Choice – “Where You Found Me” (feat. Dimi De San) | Gothic melancholy between fire, sea and memory

“Where You Found Me” places Second Choice and Dimi De San inside a dark landscape where melancholy becomes the starting point for rebuilding oneself. The song began with a guitar improvisation shaped by a Scandinavian folk sensibility, gradually developing into a contemplative arrangement. De San then transformed the original demo into a reflection on love, loss and the ways an emotional connection can alter our relationship with life.

The lyrics emerge from a state of emotional isolation: rooms filled with exhausted thoughts, abandoned dreams and a past that refuses to disappear. Yet the person at the center of the song is not presented as a traditional savior. Instead, they awaken something that was already present within the narrator, teaching her how to live and breathe again. That distinction gives the song much of its emotional weight. Love does not erase the wound; it changes the way it can be carried.

Gothic and neofolk in suspension

The track moves through gothic, dark wave, gothic metal and neofolk, but its impact comes less from heaviness than from atmosphere. The guitar riffs provide the foundation, retaining their Scandinavian-inspired character, while Dimi De San’s vocals add an emotional dimension that keeps the song suspended between darkness and vulnerability. Its strongest moments arrive when the instrumentation leaves enough space for melody and voice to carry the narrative.

The fire that remains

The recurring images of fire, sea, heaven and earth expand an intimate story into something almost elemental. Fire represents an inner force that had remained dormant, while the sea becomes a symbol of an unfinished search. Between them, breathing emerges as an image of survival and renewal. “Where You Found Me” ultimately treats love not as a definitive solution, but as the force capable of awakening a part of ourselves we had stopped recognizing.
