Saliva x Judge & Jury – “Breaking Through” | Heavy rock against the inner struggle

“I’m breaking through” sounds like an affirmation that has to be repeated before it can become real. On the title track of Saliva’s new album, the phrase pushes back against a narrative shaped by addiction, isolation, and the feeling of losing control. Inspired by Bobby Amaru’s personal journey toward sobriety, the song does not frame recovery as a destination, but as the ongoing effort to move through whatever still remains inside.

The lyrics move through wounds, shadows, and an identity that has become unfamiliar to itself. “A ghost in my own skin” captures that disconnection, while “the past that dug my own grave” makes memory more complicated than a simple source of pain: accumulated choices have helped construct the trap. Breaking through, then, is not about erasing what happened, but creating space for another version of the self.

Hard rock turned into catharsis

Blending hard rock, alternative rock, and alternative metal, the track uses heavy guitars and an emphatic, anthemic chorus to intensify its central conflict. The weight is not simply there for impact; it carries a performance caught between desperation and resistance. The result retains Saliva’s muscular rock identity while directing that energy toward a deeply introspective narrative.

Breaking through the place where you got stuck

“Barely holding on” keeps hope from becoming too comfortable. The song acknowledges how easily old patterns can return, yet insists that moving through them remains possible. Its strength lies precisely there: it does not promise that the struggle is over, only that there is still movement.
