The New Zealand post-punk project joins forces with Hannah Berry of Talmar on a dark and atmospheric new single.
Stars & The Underground return with “Echolocation”, a new single and video that further develops the project’s distinctive blend of post-punk, shoegaze and dark synthwave. Featuring guest vocals from Hannah Berry of New Zealand dark electronic act Talmar, the track expands the band’s sonic palette through immersive textures, melodic depth and an ethereal atmosphere. The release follows the acclaimed single “Lonely Black Hearts” and offers another glimpse into the forthcoming album Guardians of the Night.
Formed in Auckland by former Winterland member John Mason and ex-Headless Chickens drummer John McDermott, Stars & The Underground have steadily built a reputation for crafting dark, emotionally resonant music inspired by acts such as The Cure, Joy Division and The Chameleons. Originally introduced in an earlier form on the Evolution Circle EP, “Echolocation” has been revisited and reimagined to showcase McDermott’s production work and Berry’s captivating vocal performance, resulting in one of the project’s most compelling releases to date.
