The duo unveil “Tocando”, the first preview of a record blending intimacy, sonic exploration, and emotional movement
Helado Negro and Reyna Tropical announce “Helado Tropical”, their debut collaborative album, set for release on July 17 via Psychic Hotline. The project emerged from an informal studio session in North Carolina during 2024 and quickly evolved into a creative exchange built on instinct, spontaneity, and constant movement. Alongside the announcement, the duo share “Tocando”, a hypnotic and emotionally charged single balancing fragility, intimacy, and tension, accompanied by a video directed by Josh Finck.
Created between North Carolina, Portland, and different parts of the American Midwest, “Helado Tropical” develops a sonic language that exists somewhere between ambient and rhythmic music, resisting rigid categorization in favor of emotional exploration and human connection. Through guitars, drum machines, and synthesizers, Helado Negro and Reyna Tropical craft a record where physical and emotional movement become central themes, continuing to expand the expressive possibilities of contemporary Latin music through a deeply personal yet collective vision.
