Heirloom & Kemastry – “Not Your World” | The World Doesn’t Belong to Those Who Hold the Power

Borders, property, and hierarchies can turn something shared into a territory of privilege. In “Not Your World,” Heirloom and Kemastry challenge that logic through a track that uses spoken word as a tool for protest, confronting the systems that concentrate wealth, exploit natural resources, and place conditions on freedom.

Featuring activist and poet Donald Surfaces, the piece addresses colonialism, surveillance, the arms industry, and the privatization of resources. Yet its purpose goes beyond assigning blame: against a minority that accumulates power, it advocates for empathy, solidarity, and a renewed sense of collective belonging.

Spoken word and experimental electronics

The composition brings together spoken word and electronic experimentation, placing performance poetry at the center of a confrontational sonic experience. Its approach connects with Heirloom’s broader identity, which explores the intersections of dance music, classical music, and musique concrète through fragmented rhythms, ambient textures, and emotionally charged vocal fragments.

Reclaiming what we share

The image of the planet as a rock spinning through space shifts the perspective toward a shared reality: we are all temporary inhabitants of the same place. From this viewpoint, the distinction between the dance floor and the VIP area becomes a critique of the hierarchies we reproduce even within spaces meant for connection. “Not Your World” turns indignation into an invitation to share knowledge, art, and resources, reminding us that the world belongs not to a privileged minority, but to everyone who inhabits it.
