Feli Telesco – “Midas”: the fear of destroying what we long to build

Intimacy can become a source of conflict when the fear of emotional exposure begins to undermine the relationships we want to protect. In “Midas,” Argentine composer and producer Feli Telesco explores this contradiction through an experimental pop track shaped by distortion, fractured rhythms, and emotional tension.

Released as the lead single from En las Formas de la Delicadeza, the song begins with an uncomfortable question: how can we build a relationship when our own defenses seem determined to get in the way? Its lyrics move between direct confessions and images of decay and transformation, portraying someone who recognizes their destructive patterns but has yet to discover how to break them.

Experimental pop between distortion and vulnerability

Bright synthesizers, saturated bass, vocal harmonies, and a fractured beat reinforce the song’s sense of instability. Rather than serving as independent embellishments, these elements translate emotional discomfort into sound. The result brings the sensibility of art pop into dialogue with an alternative electronic approach defined by irregular textures and a carefully constructed tension.

When contact becomes a source of destruction

The myth of King Midas takes on an inverse meaning here: touch no longer turns everything into gold but threatens to destroy what matters. “Midas” draws its strength from the conflict between the desire for connection and the fear of making it impossible, without offering easy resolutions. It is a song about recognizing personal contradictions and understanding that change requires questioning the very defenses that protect us while keeping others at a distance.
