Marta Tchai – “La velocidad” | Wanting Everything Before Knowing What We Need

On “La velocidad”, from her 2025 album Memoria Infinita, Marta Tchai captures the urgency of wanting to feel everything before understanding what we are actually looking for. “Lo quiero todo ya” becomes both a declaration of intent and a symptom of restlessness running through infatuation, anxiety, and the desire to begin again. The excitement of waiting for a call or repeatedly listening to a message exists alongside thoughts of forgetting, illness, and death. Everyday intimacy and existential unease occupy the same restless mind.

The image of returning to the womb expresses a longing to start over without losing what life has taught us, while the fear of illness reminds us of the limits of that desire. The song also considers how difficult it can be to answer when someone asks what we want: the need to have everything immediately does not necessarily come with clarity. Tchai observes this contradiction without offering an easy resolution, allowing vulnerability and intensity to coexist.

Inside an Accelerated Mind

Rooted in indie pop, the song draws its identity from personal songwriting that connects small gestures of affection with existential concerns. Recurring phrases reinforce the sense of urgency, turning desire into a persistent thought.

Learning to Inhabit the Present

“La velocidad” captures the wish to live intensely while trying to understand what we feel. Between exhilaration and fear, the song reminds us that wanting everything does not mean knowing how to hold on to it.
