Beaudi Dwan – “Mind Is A Liar” | Too far to rescue, too close to simply let go

“Too far out to sea” describes a distance that cannot be measured in miles alone. On “Mind Is A Liar,” Beaudi Dwan uses the ocean to represent the point where trying to reach someone is no longer within our control. The song begins with an internal struggle, portraying the mind as something that deceives, causes pain, and “grips” the protagonist when he tries to move forward. Gradually, however, the focus shifts toward another person who appears trapped in a difficult situation. Between concern, helplessness, and the desire to stay connected, Dwan creates a restrained reflection on loss, personal limits, and growth.

The repetition of “too far out to sea” creates a circular feeling, as though accepting the separation remains difficult. The narrator wants to rescue someone but must also recognize that he cannot determine the other person’s path. “Maybe you’re finally free” offers a possible way forward. The line does not erase the sadness, but it introduces another perspective on loss: what looks like disappearance may also mark the beginning of another chapter.

Its ending offers no definitive resolution, but it does suggest the possibility of release. Sometimes letting go also means accepting that another person’s freedom lies beyond our control.
