ISHA – “Out The Sun” | Jazz, Funk, and Indietronica in a Moment of Release

Near the end of Feel At Home, “Out The Sun” shifts the album’s language: where earlier songs explore identity, relationships, and belonging through vulnerable lyrics, the bass now takes the place of the voice. As one of the record’s few instrumental moments and its penultimate track, the piece works as a physical pause within an emotional journey. A jazz-leaning bassline keeps the music moving while airy electronic textures widen the space around it, allowing the track to express something without needing to explain it.

Without lyrics, groove becomes the main vehicle for expression. There is a sense of lightness and contemplation in that choice: the bass provides a recognizable center while the ethereal production keeps the piece open-ended. Within the album’s larger context, that openness feels significant. After a project concerned with finding a sense of home and rebuilding a relationship with oneself, “Out The Sun” creates a space to simply inhabit the moment before Feel At Home reaches “Won’t Go Back” and its refusal to return to an earlier version of the self.

A Groove Between Jazz and Electronic Music

The bass connects ISHA’s jazz and funk roots with an airy indie production approach. Electronic layers expand the surrounding space without displacing the rhythm, bringing jazz, funk, and indietronica into the same frame. A Pause Before Moving Forward

“Out The Sun” is strongest precisely because it does not try to explain the process behind Feel At Home. Its penultimate position turns it into a moment of suspension: the groove continues, the textures expand, and the words disappear. Before the album closes, ISHA simply allows the process to breathe.
