Matt Bowman – “Waste Away” | Indie rock on addiction, inner conflict and emotional inheritance

“Waste away infinity” turns the passage of time into something quietly threatening. In “Waste Away,” Matt Bowman enters into a conversation with an inner voice that can offer encouragement or contempt, asking what happens when we lose the ability to tell one from the other. The track moves between introspection and warning, gradually revealing how personal choices can accumulate consequences.

The opening remains close to that internal struggle: finding a “golden truth” or reaching a “bitter end” seems connected to the willingness to listen to what is happening within. Then the perspective becomes more concrete. A stranger arriving with an offer introduces the possibility of temptation or a decision capable of changing the course of events, while the reference to harm involving a daughter pushes the conflict into the territory of emotional inheritance. What remains unresolved within one person can eventually reach the people they love.

Direct rock carrying an internal tension

Sitting between indie rock, garage rock and alternative rock, “Waste Away” relies on direct, emotionally exposed writing.
