Tricky FM – “Apartment” | Electro pop caught between desire and memory

Wet hair, smoke caught in someone’s hair, perfume and the possibility of a kiss: “Apartment” builds intimacy through the details that survive after an encounter is over. Tricky FM turns those fragments into memories that keep returning, as if remembering were another way of touching an experience that still refuses to settle into the present. Within Twin Star Fantasy, that repetition creates an especially intimate space.

“Your hair was wet from the pier” returns alongside “no wonder your boyfriend was jealous,” making the memory move in circles. The narrator knows where things stand now, yet keeps going back to the pier, the smoke, the perfume and the question of a kiss. Desire exists alongside embarrassment, fascination and discomfort with the intensity of what happened. The memory does not preserve the entire story; it preserves sensations. Those sensations are what keep the encounter alive.

An electronic loop for remembering desire

Tricky FM’s electro pop gives the track its circular motion through repetition. Lyrical images return like persistent thoughts rather than moving toward a conventional resolution. The project’s euphoric electronic character contrasts with the vulnerability of the writing, allowing “Apartment” to feel sensual and immediate while retaining a distinctly nostalgic edge.

Memory as a place to land

Smoke lingers in the hair; perfume turns another person into a sensation that is difficult to erase. Then “I’ll be the hand to land” introduces an unexpectedly tender gesture. After desire and confusion, the hand can become a place of refuge rather than possession. That may be the track’s most delicate idea: offering somewhere to land, even if only for a moment.
