EPICH – “Yakumo” | Nu Jazz where electronic textures meet instrumental expression

“Yakumo” occupies the space between acoustic piano and electronic grooves, allowing jazz tradition and contemporary production to interact without either side losing its character. EPICH builds the track around acoustic piano, Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer, synthesizer and bass, while scat vocals become another layer within the arrangement. Rather than relying on a conventional narrative structure, the piece places its emphasis on detail, atmosphere and movement.

With no lyrics provided, “Yakumo” communicates through dynamics, space, layering and contrast. The voice is treated less as a carrier of words than as an instrumental color, adding motion and melodic texture to the composition. That choice shifts the listening experience toward something more intuitive, where emotion emerges from the relationship between sounds rather than from an explicit story.

Organic jazz inside an electronic space

The combination of Nu Jazz, Jazztronica, Jazz House and Chill House rests on an acoustic foundation that keeps the electronic elements from overwhelming the composition. Piano establishes its connection to jazz, while Rhodes, Wurlitzer and synthesizers expand the tonal palette. Electronic grooves provide forward motion, and the scat becomes another melodic extension of the instrumental arrangement.

When the voice becomes texture

The conversation between acoustic and electronic elements becomes “Yakumo’s” main narrative language. Its spacious, cinematic atmosphere allows each layer to contribute without needing to explain a specific story. The track’s strongest quality lies in that openness: rather than assigning meaning through words, EPICH leaves room for the listener to discover movement, emotion and atmosphere within the sound itself.
