Rainbow City Park Finds Beauty in What Could Have Been on “What’s The Use”

The Northern California band turns an unfinished relationship into luminous indie rock, shimmering guitars and emotionally vulnerable songwriting.

“What’s The Use” explores a particular kind of grief: missing a relationship that never had the chance to exist. Northern California indie rock band Rainbow City Park turns that uncertainty into a song built around shimmering guitars, alternative pop-rock energy and introspective songwriting. Released August 14, 2026, the single began as a stripped-down singer-songwriter composition written by frontwoman Danielle Judith before the band reshaped it into a broader arrangement without losing the vulnerability at its core. Rather than focusing on the loss of an established connection, the track examines the absence left by a possibility that remained unrealized, along with the questions that linger around missed opportunities.

The release marks Rainbow City Park’s first new material since their 2025 EP “Fruitless” and opens another chapter in the band’s evolving sound. While retaining the atmospheric textures associated with their earlier work, “What’s The Use” expands their palette toward a more anthemic approach. The band describes production and storytelling as central to its creative process, aiming to keep music and lyrics connected throughout the listener’s sonic journey. Formed in 2022, Rainbow City Park has built a presence in California’s independent scene through live performances, a West Coast tour and support slots with artists including Japanese Breakfast, Royel Otis, Wild Child and The National Parks. Following the release of “What’s The Use”, the band will take the new material on an August and September tour through California and Nevada.
