The Toronto songwriter delivers an intimate collection of songs inspired by family history, personal growth and emotional clarity.
Nate Mills has released Amigo Drive, a deeply personal EP that marks a new chapter for the Toronto artist best known as the frontman of genre-defying outfit Run With the Kittens. Blending alternative folk, understated arrangements and heartfelt songwriting, the project showcases Mills’ gift for storytelling while embracing a more intimate and reflective approach. Drawing comparisons to artists such as Beck, Wilco and Califone, the EP balances emotional depth with warm, organic musicianship.
The title track is inspired by memories connected to a remote dirt road called Amigo Drive, where Mills’ father and his crew built homes during the 1980s. From that starting point, the EP expands into a broader meditation on family, memory and the perspective that comes with adulthood. Featuring standout songs such as “Amigo Drive”, “On My Mind” and “That’s Just Me”, the release highlights Mills’ ability to transform personal experiences into stories that resonate far beyond their origins.
