The Ecuadorian-Colombian artist transforms a famous Mexican myth into a haunting alternative pop narrative
SISSIE unveils “Pascualita,” a song inspired by the famous Mexican legend surrounding the mannequin believed by many to be the preserved body of a young woman. Rather than focusing on the mystery itself, SISSIE imagines a more compassionate ending to the story, transforming the myth into a reflection on women whose dreams of happiness never came true. What began as a spontaneous idea at the piano gradually evolved into a narrative where longing, memory, and emotional healing take center stage.
Produced alongside Franco Gasbarri, “Pascualita” blends delicate strings, textured guitars, and unconventional percussion to create an atmosphere that feels both ethereal and deeply intimate. Through its alternative pop sensibility, the song turns folklore into a meditation on loss and redemption, further showcasing SISSIE’s ability to build emotionally resonant worlds through storytelling and imagination.
