The Spanish pianist and songwriter unveils a chamber-pop piece recorded live with strings, choir, and piano
Laia Alcolea returns with “PIEL,” a chamber-pop composition built around raw performance and emotional truth. Recorded entirely live inside a sixteenth-century church alongside a string trio, piano, and choir, the song strips away studio embellishments to focus on the power of interpretation and personal storytelling. Serving as the first preview of her upcoming EP, the track bridges classical influences and contemporary songwriting with remarkable intimacy.
Inspired by Aram Khachaturian’s Toccata, a piece deeply connected to her years of classical training, “PIEL” revisits formative memories and unresolved wounds through a deeply personal lens. Rather than presenting healing as a completed journey, Laia Alcolea explores acceptance and understanding, creating a work where chamber-pop, classical heritage, and emotional reflection coexist in a compelling and deeply human way.
