The Belgian project push goth and post-punk revival into a more immersive and destabilizing space
Velvet Mist return with “Down,” a new single taken from their upcoming concept EP The Shape Of Losing Light, set for release on June 5, 2026. Built around dense atmospheres, emotional tension, and gothic textures, the track expands the project’s immersive narrative while exploring themes of isolation, instability, and emotional disorientation.
Rather than serving as an introduction, “Down” functions as the darkest emotional point within the EP’s conceptual arc. Drawing inspiration from bands like Sisters of Mercy, Lebanon Hanover, and Twin Tribes, Velvet Mist combine analog synths, shadowy rhythms, and melancholic guitar work to create a hypnotic and cinematic descent into emotional collapse.
