The Norwegian artist begins a new independent era with a single inspired by the myth of Icarus
Moyka returns with “Icarus”, her first single of 2026 and the beginning of a new artistic chapter shaped by creative independence and renewed confidence. Inspired by the myth of Icarus, the track explores the tension between authenticity and the search for validation within the music industry, capturing the emotional exhaustion that can come from chasing a dream that always feels just out of reach. With an unconventional structure and ethereal production, “Icarus” reinforces the introspective and experimental electropop identity that defines Moyka’s sound.
Written in Stockholm with Rasmus Budny and Amanda Cy, and later completed in Bergen alongside producer Eirik Hella, “Icarus” reflects a period of personal and professional transformation for the Norwegian artist, who recently began releasing music through her own label, MOYKA. Drawing inspiration from contemporary artists like PinkPantheress and Oklou, Moyka crafts a single that balances emotional vulnerability with artistic ambition, marking a new sonic era following tours across Europe and Mexico and the release of her mini-EP Ultraviolet.
