Fortitude Valley estrena ‘Sunshine State’: Rock indie sobre verdades del tiempo (UK)

El proyecto Fortitude Valley presenta el sencillo “Sunshine State”, una pista energética que navega entre el indie rock y pop con sonido estridente. Destaca por voces brillantes y pegadizas que atrapan al oyente, mientras construye una narrativa sobre madurez personal: cómo el tiempo revela verdades emocionales ocultas y cómo a veces debemos perder algo (o a alguien) para valorarlo.

“La letra trata sobre alejarse de Australia y lidiar con esos sentimientos. Encontré algunos diarios viejos de cuando era adolescente, y eso me hizo reflexionar sobre cuánto había cambiado como persona. Había cosas sobre mí que había olvidado, pero quedaba claro cuánto había querido siempre mudarme al Reino Unido. ¡Tenía muchas ganas de irme! ¡Desde un lugar tan hermoso! Así que la canción es como: voy a volver al Sunshine State para encontrarme con mi yo más joven y melodramática, y reencontrarme con ella.”

Fortitude Valley es un proyecto liderado por Laura Kovic. Influenciada por bandas como The Beths, The Go-Go’s y Pavement, el resultado es un cóctel absurdamente adictivo de indie-punk y power pop, lleno de melodías poderosas que se quedarán a vivir en tu cabeza por mucho tiempo. La banda ha compartido escenario con Los Campesinos!, Allo Darlin, Gruff Rhys y The Wave Pictures. Laura formó parte anteriormente de la banda de pop psicodélico Tigercats, y el grupo también incluye a miembros de Martha y Fast Blood.

The project Fortitude Valley presents the single “Sunshine State”, a powerful and energetic track blending indie rock and indie pop with a strident sound. “Lyrically, the song is about moving away from Australia and dealing with those feelings. I found some old journals from when I was a teenager, and they made me reflect on how much I’d changed as a person. There were things about myself that I’d forgotten, but it was clear how much I’d always wanted to move to the UK. I was so keen to get away! From such a beautiful place! So the song is like: I’m going back to the Sunshine State to find my younger, more melodramatic self and catch-up with her.”

Fortitude Valley is the brainchild of Laura Kovic. Taking influence from the likes of The Beths, The Go-Go’s and Pavement, what results is a ludicrously addictive cocktail of heart-stopping indie-punk power-pop melody and a back catalogue of songs that’ll be living in your head, rent free, forever more. The band has shared a stage with Los Campesinos!, Allo Darlin, Gruff Rhys and The Wave Pictures. Laura previously played in psychedelic pop band Tigercats, and the band also includes members of Martha and Fast Blood.
