“Flora the Fragrant Ferret” de The Guru Guru x Lennert Baerts x Muze Jazz Orchestra es el primer adelanto de la próxima ópera rock/jazz The Whistlewood Ball – Bedtime Stories of Song, Secrets and Sprouts (and Beyoncé). La pieza combina art rock, avant-rock, jazz contemporáneo, ópera narrativa y elementos teatrales que evocan el rock experimental europeo, resultando en un híbrido vibrante que transita entre lo caótico, lo humorístico y lo virtuoso.

La obra narra la historia de Flora, una tímida y “demasiado fragante” comadreja que se encierra en su casa por vergüenza a su olor, mientras las criaturas del bosque intentan convencerla de unirse a la vida comunitaria. Este cuento surrealista aborda temas de autoimagen, vergüenza, aislamiento social y el conflicto entre huir del mundo o enfrentar la incomodidad, todo envuelto en un tono deliberadamente absurdo y teatral inspirado en fábulas, cuentos infantiles y óperas narrativas.

The Guru Guru es una banda belga de art rock que desde 2012 explora los límites del rock experimental con guitarras angulares, ritmos impredecibles y una interpretación vocal visceral y teatral. Con influencias que van desde METZ hasta Deerhoof y The Mars Volta, han construido un sonido frenético y personal que se ha consolidado a través de giras por Europa y festivales como Sziget, ArcTanGent y Rock Herk. This surreal tale addresses themes of self-image, shame, social isolation, and the conflict between escaping the world or confronting discomfort, all wrapped in a deliberately absurd and theatrical tone inspired by fables, children’s stories, and narrative operas.
