Los Owen Guns son una banda de hardcore punk de la vieja escuela con sede en Nueva Gales del Sur y cuyos miembros se reparten entre Sídney y la Costa Sur. Como dice The Underground Stage: “El frenético y frenético set de los Owen Guns puede estar diseñado para ofender, pero tiene el extraño efecto de hacer que te gusten cada vez más. Cada canción trata sobre algo que odian con el poder de un montón de estrellas en explosión: ya sabes, violadores, racistas, políticos, nazis, hipsters más punks que tú con camisetas de Minor Threat, lo habitual. No podrían ser más directos, sin duda, pero en realidad están diseñados para meterse en tu cabeza”. Liderados por el carismático y directo Sean the Bastard, son diferentes a la actual generación de bandas punk, no tienen acentos estadounidenses falsos ni miedo a ofender a la gente. No se toman a sí mismos ni a nadie demasiado en serio y no tienen miedo de decir las cosas como las ven. En 2020 lanzaron su primer EP “Violating Community Standards” a través de Riot Records y lo siguieron en 2021 con “EP2 Electric Boogaloo”. Desde que se separaron de Riot y reemplazaron a un guitarrista, lanzaron su primer álbum de larga duración en 2022 “Dawn of the Braindead” a través de Outtaspace Presents. El álbum debutó en el puesto 13 en las listas de música independiente y tuvo la canción Pulling on the boots (Racist dickhead) en el puesto 34 en el 4ZZZ Hot 100. Próximamente habrá más.

The Owen Guns are an old school hardcore punk band based in NSW with members split between Sydney and the South Coast. As The Underground Stage put it “The Owen Guns’ manic, boiling set may be designed to offend, but it has this strange effect of making you like them more and more. Every song is about something they hate with the power of a bazillion exploding stars – y’know, rapists, racists, politicians, nazis, punker-than-thou hipsters in Minor Threat shirts, the usual. They couldn’t be more up in your face, for sure – but it’s really designed to get into your head.” Fronted by the charismatic and in your face Sean the Bastard, they are unlike the current crop of punk bands, there are no fake American accents or the fear of offending people. They dont take themselves or anyone else too seriously and aren’t afraid to call things how they see them. In 2020 they released their first EP “Violating Community Standards” through Riot Records and followed it up in 2021 with “EP2 Electric Boogaloo”. Since parting ways with Riot and replacing a guitarist they have released their first full length album in 2022 “Dawn of the Braindead” through Outtaspace Presents. The album debuted at 13th on the independent music charts and had the song Pulling on the boots (Racist dickhead) ranked 34th in the 4ZZZ Hot 100. More to come
